We've had our first taste of the drive system under development for General Motors' pioneering Chevrolet Volt, piloting a test mule based on the Chevrolet Cruze at the company's Warren (Mich.) Technical Center, and it left us hungering for more. Yes, it's an electric car, but mostly, it's a car--one you could imagine driving every day without feeling as if you were engaged in a lab experiment. A quiet show for Saab, but then this is a brand with which waiting has become synonymous. What’s new on Saab's London motor show stand? They’ve both been at other motor shows around the globe, but new-to-Britain are the 9-X and 9-4 concepts.
Ford Motor Co.'s sale of Volvo to Geely in August leaves doubt about the Swedish company's product plans. For example, all of Volvo's current range except the 9-year-old XC90 crossover makes use of Ford vehicles and components. The XC90 is based on Volvo's P2 platform and was developed before Ford ownership.
